- The Gideon Class
In many churches, people that are divorced, separated or widowed do not have a place in the Sunday School program. Married adults attend as couples and single adults that have never been married are just "coming from a different place." Out of compassion for those that were once married, but are now single again, our Pastor wanted to start a class where both men and women could feel "at home." In March 2001, the Gideon Class began meeting in a small room off the auditorium. When God called Gideon to serve Him, Gideon felt unworthy and could not believe that God could use someone like him. Hence, our name "The Gideon Class." Class member's ages range from the early 20's to the 80's.
The class has studied various topics that purpose to help each of us walk closer to the Lord in our everyday situations; however, we have not been timid to teach the Biblical perspective on such hot topics as separation, the preserved Word of God, marriage, divorce and remarriage after divorce. Each class ends with the class' battle cry when someone lifts their Bible and proclaims, "The Sword of the Lord!" and the rest of class responds, "and of Gideon." (Judges 7: 18, 20)
Class Functions: Fellowships at the Burke's home; attending Nashville Sounds baseball games; Guy's Night Out (men's fellowship); eating donuts!

This Class is geared towards the ones in our church with special needs. Each week mentally and/or physically handicapped teens and adults (ages 14 up) receive much needed fellowship and Bible instruction from their teacher Mrs. Dottie Feight. In a typical class students begin with fellowship and food then share in a time of prayer. Mrs. Feight gives a Bible lesson and then they have a fun game time. Being the mother of a handicapped son, Mrs. Feight has gained insight from the Lord and His word on these dear ones special needs. If you know of anybody who can benefit from this class please see Dottie Feight or contact us at the Church. Back to top
- Higher Ground
As you may have noticed, our ministry offers a variety of adult Sunday School classes. This is because people have different needs and often learn best in different environments. There is seldom one class that is the right "fit" for everyone. We hope that by letting you know about the Higher Ground class, you can see if it might be a good fit for you (and we would love to meet you!).
The Higher Ground class is designed for those who desire Bible studies of greater depth than is possible in a single lesson or brief overview. If you are a person who finds the Bible fascinating but at times quite challenging to understand, you would likely enjoy the time and approach devoted to studies in Higher Ground. Studies are intended to be thought-provoking, and promote Christian growth, understanding and maturity. Although we often study challenging topics, our purpose in studying is not mere "head knowledge," but knowledge you can apply to your life.
While taking a serious approach to Biblical study and the authority of the scriptures, we also place a priority on handling challenging issues in a manner that is loving and respectful toward those who are sincerely seeking to understand God's Word. As some class members have said, lessons often lead to good discussions and independent study outside of class.
Come join us for a great time of Bible study, great fellowship, and a greater walk with the Lord!
